Welcome to Imagine Cup

Today, I got my Imagine Cup welcome package in the mail. Some fun stuff: a travel guide to Brazil, and Brazilian Portuguese phrasebook, theSpoke pens. Fun, fun stuff. Also included is how we compete, our itinerary, etc. The welcome package makes this whole trip a little more tangible; my excitement (and anxiety) is starting to rise.

Coincidently, we also got word on the pools for the judging at the event. We’ll be competing against Belgium, Germany, Italy, China, UK, Korea, Hong Kong and Malaysia in the first round. You can go here for the details. There is a remark that the judging is a lot like the judging at American Idol.

Does that mean we can expect a Simon Cowell-type judge? 🙂 I don’t know how I’d like that. I enjoy his honest, open critiques when he speaks to others, but to me, he’s an asshole!

These quizzes hold the answer to life

Found this while I was supposed to be working…

You are Slackware Linux. You are the brightest among your peers, but are often mistaken as insane. Your elegant solutions to problems often take a little longer, but require much less effort to complete.
Which OS are You?

Personally, I love these quizzes. Nothing defines you better than a 60 second quiz scientifically formulated to produce quick, accurate results. Of course, when the results have to interpreted, what we have is a really profound discussion. For instance, I took the Gay Test, at TheSpark.com a while back. It turns out I’m 27% gay. (Going there just now, I see that theSpark has moved and got rid of the gay test. Lame.)

Now most of my colleagues think that means I would be attracted to 1 in 4 men. I disagree: I think that a roughly a quarter of me is attracted to other men. I think it’s both my legs, from knee to ankle, and occasionally, my left shoulder… in the back, from clavicle to shoulder blade.

The daily WTF

I’m always on the lookout for new blogs to read. I’m pretty new with writing them, but I’ve been reading them for about a year now. Most of them are pretty standard for a .NET nerd, but today I’ve found a couple worth watching…

ASP.NET Resources – it looks like a great technical resource for the web-design-minded web developer. Does that make sense? It’s something I’ve been wanting to get into with this site, if my every spare moment wasn’t consumed with trying to avoid coding for the Imagine Cup finals 🙂

The Daily WTF –  A great name for a website. Just click and start reading… (via EarlyAdopter)

Needless to say: Subscribed.
